Men's Automatic Watches
The automatic watch is a type of watch that is particularly prized for its ease of use. Since it does not require batteries to operate, the automatic watch is known for offering greater durability than quartz watches: in fact, it is often said that an automatic watch lasts a lifetime! These watches also feature excellent craftsmanship, and their designs have become staples in the world of watchmaking.
What is an automatic watch?
An automatic watch is a type of watch designed to wind itself automatically—that is, on its own. To do this, the watch draws its energy from the movements of the wrist! This technical feat is made possible by the rotor, which can be seen moving on the back of the watch. When the wearer’s wrist moves, the arm changes position, or the wearer simply makes a regular swinging motion, the rotor activates the watch’s winding mechanism: this is where kinetic energy comes into play! For an automatic watch to continue functioning normally, it must therefore be worn regularly. Of course, it’s not possible to see the mechanism inside every automatic watch, but you can still tell the difference between a quartz watch and an automatic watch by paying attention to the movement of the second hand. On a quartz watch, the second hand moves once per second in a ticking motion; on an automatic watch, the movement is smoother and faster.
How to Care for Your Men's Automatic Watch?
As long as you take good care of your automatic watch, it will serve you for many years to come, thanks to its reliable mechanism. While an automatic watch does not require a battery to operate, it must be worn regularly to keep running. Note, however, that most modern watches have a power reserve of 38 to 40 hours. Keep in mind, however, that the frequency with which the movement needs to be wound varies from one manufacturer to another.
