LIP, the French brand favored by great explorers such as Maurice HERZOG and Eric TABARLY, has partnered with Patrick DEIXONNE and Expédition 7e Continent to raise awareness about the urgent need to address plastic waste in the oceans. To support the 7e Continent association, the French watch brand is introducing the all-new NAUTIC-OCEAN, featuring a Seaqual strap made from recycled plastic fiber sourced from plastic recovered from the Mediterranean Sea.
The NAUTIC, the quintessential sports watch in the LIP line—worn notably by Eric Tabarly and Commander Cousteau’s teams—had all the qualities needed to meet the demands of this man of the sea: durability, readability, water resistance, accuracy, and longevity.
TheNAUTIC-OCEANis crafted from 316L stainless steel and is water-resistant to 20 bar thanks to a screw-down case back and crown. It features a dive time indicator via an inner rotating bezel that can be adjusted using the second crown at the 2 o’clock position. Built to withstand the harshest conditions, this timepiece features an automatic movement with three hands and a date display, as well as large hour markers and white luminescent hands that stand out against the dial’s background.
Expédition 7e Continent is a nonprofit organization recognized as serving the public interest, led by Patrick DEIXONNE, founder and member of the Société des Explorateurs Français.
No ocean is spared from the massive presence of plastics. These plastics carry endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, and other pollutants, all of which place a strain on ecosystems. They pose a proven risk to marine biodiversity, and given the food chain links between species, their effects on human health are irrefutable.
In 20 years, if significant action is not taken—both at the industrial level and in terms of individual behavior—these garbage patches (there is one in each gyre; the one in the Pacific is about seven times the size of France) will cover an area much larger than Europe, with consequences that remain largely unknown.
In the face of this threat, Expédition 7e Continent works to protect the oceans by striving to combine scientific, educational, and media expertise, all centered around a shared commitment: to understand, raise awareness, and reduce plastic pollution in the oceans to preserve our planet.
All proceeds from the sale of NAUTIC-OCEAN products will be donated to the 7e Continent organization.
