LIP Watch - HIMALAYA SAV - 35 MM

In 1964, to promote its brand-new battery-powered electromechanical movement, Fred LIP came up with the idea of creating the “After-Sales Service” watch. Thus, when a customer brought in their LIP watch for servicing or repair, their authorized dealer would offer them a most valuable service: a courtesy watch. 

This watch, loaned to customers during servicing to spare them an agonizing wait, displayed its purpose on its dial with the inscription “AFTER-SALES – YOUR WATCHMAKER LENDS YOU THE TIME.” It was also equipped with the new electromechanical movement developed by the company. Customers thus had the pleasure of experiencing the precision and ease of use of this revolutionary battery-powered movement. 

The success was such that many customers became so attached to this unusual watch while it was on loan that many of them never returned it… bringing the promotion to an end and making this model highly sought after by collectors.

Today, LIP is reviving this iconic model in the same configuration as the original from 1964: a classic 35mm case, a battery-powered movement, and a dial bearing the slogan “SAV – YOUR WATCHMAKER TELLS YOU THE TIME.”
