LIP Watch - Himalaya After-Sales Service - 35 mm

HISTORY

In 1964, to promote its brand-new battery-powered electromechanical movement, Fred LIP came up with the idea of creating the “After-Sales Service” watch. Thus, when a customer brought in their LIP watch for servicing or repair, their authorized dealer would offer them a most valuable service: a courtesy watch. 

This watch, loaned to customers during servicing to spare them an agonizing wait, displayed its purpose on its dial with the inscription “AFTER-SALES – YOUR WATCHMAKER LENDS YOU THE TIME.” It was also equipped with the new electromechanical movement developed by the company. Customers thus had the pleasure of experiencing the precision and ease of use of this revolutionary battery-powered movement. 

The success was such that many customers became so attached to this unusual watch while it was on loan that many of them never returned it… bringing the promotion to an end and making this model highly sought after by collectors.

Today, LIP is reviving this iconic model in the same configuration as the original from 1964: a classic 35mm case, a battery-powered movement, and a dial bearing the slogan “SAV – YOUR WATCHMAKER TELLS YOU THE TIME.”

The SAV watch is available for early purchase at Octobre Edition, and then starting December 26 on the LIP website and at authorized retailers.

THE WATCH

In this SAV version with its 35mm-diameter case, this Himalaya model suits every wrist, whether for men or women. Classic yet trendy, this watch is an exceptional timepiece imbued with nostalgia. It features a polished, gold-plated 316L stainless steel case. On the case, you’ll find a winding crown at the 3 o’clock position that allows you to easily set the time. Thanks to its Ronda 705 analog quartz movement, this watch is timeless and will be with you for a lifetime. Its mineral crystal protects the watch from scratches. 

The round, white dial has no hour markers and complements your style perfectly. The hour markers are replaced by the inscription “After-Sales – Your watchmaker keeps you on time” in blue to provide contrast. The gold hour and minute hands on this watch feature a “Dauphine” design and are minimalist in style. 

This watch is equipped with a Swiss-made RONDA 705 analog quartz movement and a type 377 battery. This highly reliable automatic movement powers the three time-indicating hands.

With a rather classic style, this timepiece features a brown calfskin strap. Of particular note is the crocodile-patterned design, which makes it very comfortable to wear. The strap is 18 mm wide between the lugs and fastens with a gold-plated steel pin buckle, allowing you to easily adjust the length of the strap to fit your wrist.

Water-resistant up to 3 ATM, this watch can withstand splashes but is not suitable for use in water.
