The LIP Courage watch was developed by LIP, in partnership with the National Federation of French Firefighters (FNSPF), as a decision-making tool for all emergency response professionals: firefighters, doctors, nurses, and volunteer first responders.
It was through a representative of the Health and Medical Rescue Service (SSSM) of the French Fire Department that engineers from the Besançon-based watchmaker were enlisted to meet the following specifications: to develop a decision-support tool—one that is easily transportable and always within reach—for all firefighters and first responders to use during their missions. Since first aid accounts for 80% of their responses, it was necessary to provide a simple, reliable, and lightweight tool that would allow them to quickly determine whether the person being treated requires a full diagnosis and immediate care.
After several months of hard work and back-and-forth discussions between the watchmaker and the national federation, LIP and the French Fire Department are proud to present the LIP Courage, named after the famous motto of the French Fire Department: “Courage and Devotion.”

An exclusive chronograph movement with a dual-colored hand—a red section for measuring heart rate and a blue section for measuring breathing—allows for very quick monitoring of vital signs.
