LIP Watch - The History of the Grande Nautic Ski

Following the first version of GRANDE-NAUTIC, developed and manufactured for the GIGN field units, LIP is finally offering a large-size version of its famous NAUTIC-SKI to the civilian market. 

The NAUTIC-SKI, the quintessential sports watch in the LIP line—worn notably by Eric Tabarly and Commander Cousteau’s teams—had all the qualities needed to meet the demands of seafarers: durability, readability, water resistance, accuracy, and longevity.

To meet the demands of a public seeking greater openness, LIP therefore enlarged the NAUTIC-SKI's case from 38 mm to 41 mm, giving rise to the GRANDE-NAUTIC.

The GRANDE-NAUTIC is crafted from 316L stainless steel and is water-resistant to 20 bar thanks to a screw-down case back and crown. It features a dive time indicator via an inner rotating bezel that can be adjusted using the second crown located at the 2 o’clock position. Built to withstand the harshest conditions, this timepiece is equipped with an automatic three-hand movement with date display and features large hour markers and white luminescent hands that stand out against the dial’s background. It comes in a gift box with a “Tropic”-style diving strap.

Item number 671522 is exactly the same as the first series manufactured for the GIGN Field Units. 

Model 671521 is inspired by the blue dial of the famous NAUTIC-SKI “Eric Tabarly.”
